The WHO\u2019s global theme for\u00a0World No Tobacco Day 2025\u00a0aims to\u00a0expose how the tobacco and nicotine industries continue to manipulate young people\u00a0through:<\/p>\n
Flavored tobacco\u00a0and vapes<\/p>\n
Colorful, trendy packaging<\/p>\n
Misleading promotions \u2014 online and offline<\/p>\n
Paid influencers and viral content targeted at youth<\/p>\n
\u201cThey sell the idea of \u2018cool,\u2019 \u2018calm,\u2019 or \u2018mature\u2019\u2014but in reality, what they sell is addiction, disease, and death.\u201d<\/p>\n
This campaign directly speaks to\u00a0parents, teachers, and youth influencers, reminding us that tobacco marketing doesn\u2019t look evil\u2014it looks exciting. That\u2019s the danger.<\/p>\n

While this theme has gained global momentum,\u00a0Harshamitra has been ahead of the curve since 2011, organizing unique and impactful awareness campaigns every single year on May 31st.<\/p>\n
From\u00a0flash mobs\u00a0and\u00a0rural street plays\u00a0to\u00a0free screening camps\u00a0and\u00a0student competitions, Harshamitra has built a reputation not just for treating cancer \u2014 but\u00a0preventing it\u00a0through\u00a0community-centered education.<\/p>\n

Encourage students and young creators to\u00a0create awareness reels\u00a0(short videos) that expose the false glamour of smoking, vaping, and other tobacco products.<\/p>\n
The goal?\u00a0Fight reels with reels.<\/p>\n
Show that you don\u2019t need smoke to shine on screen \u2014 only truth.<\/p>\n
These videos, shared on Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and WhatsApp, carry simple, sharp messages to\u00a0\u201cunmask\u201d the so-called appeal of tobacco use.<\/p>\n
This youth-driven model proves one thing: when\u00a0young voices\u00a0speak up, other young people listen.<\/p>\n
A Grand Gathering at Harshamitra Premises<\/h2>\n
Unlike past years where awareness campaigns happened in public places like parks or streets, the 2025 event was held at the\u00a0Harshamitra campus itself\u00a0\u2014 and it turned out to be a grand, emotional, and inspiring affair.<\/p>\n

Renowned for his thought-provoking films, Director Seenu Ramasamy delivered a powerful keynote. He expressed deep concern over\u00a0how movies and media can unintentionally promote smoking, and urged content creators to be more socially responsible.<\/p>\n
\u201cLikes and views should not come at the cost of lives. Real heroes don\u2019t smoke on screen or off. They protect others from picking it up,\u201d he said, earning applause.<\/p>\n

With over two decades in oncology, Dr. G.Govindaraj Varsha shared case studies of young patients who fell into the trap of flavored vapes and chewable tobacco, believing them to be \u201charmless.\u201d<\/p>\n
