As part of the\u00a0Pink October awareness campaign, a remarkable\u00a0Cervical and Breast Cancer Awareness Program\u00a0was held at\u00a0Jenny Plaza, Tiruchirappalli, on\u00a0October 8, 2025. The event was organized under the\u00a0Rotary District 2025\u201326 \u201cDREAM\u201d initiative\u00a0by\u00a0The Rotary Club of Tiruchirappalli Butterflies, in collaboration with several other Rotary Clubs including\u00a0RCT DC Elite, RCT Winners, RCT DC Queens, RCT Eye Donation, RCT Rivertown, RC Tiruchirappalli, RCT Thendral, RCT Next Gen, and RCT Royal.<\/p>\n

The event aimed to spread vital awareness about\u00a0women\u2019s health, cervical cancer prevention, and early detection of breast cancer\u00a0among the general public. It drew participation from Rotarians, community leaders, women\u2019s groups, and students, reflecting a strong commitment to public health education.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the program was the insightful address by\u00a0Dr. P. Sasipriya Govindaraj,\u00a0Senior Radiation Oncologist and Executive Director of Harshamitra Cancer & Multi-Speciality Hospital, Tiruchirappalli. Dr. Sasipriya emphasized the importance of early screening for both cervical and breast cancer and spoke about how timely vaccination and self-examination can save countless lives.<\/p>\n

She highlighted that\u00a0Harshamitra Hospital\u00a0has been continuously involved in awareness drives, medical camps, and preventive screening initiatives since 2012, reaching thousands of women through health talks, exhibitions, and public interactions. Her talk inspired many attendees to take proactive steps toward preventive healthcare.<\/p>\n

During the event, expert volunteers shared educational material, demonstrated screening techniques, and explained the role of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer. The session concluded with an interactive discussion where women and students asked practical questions about prevention, lifestyle habits, and accessible healthcare options.<\/p>\n
