CAN YOU GET CANCER FROM ONE CIGARETTE?
• Cancer types known to be caused by smoking include cancer of the liver, colon and rectum, lung, oral cavity and throat, esophagus, larynx (voice box), stomach, pancreas, bladder, kidney, and cervix, and acute myeloid leukemia.
• Each cigarette can damage DNA in many lung cells, but it is the build up of damage in the same cell that can lead to cancer.
• For every 15 cigarettes smoked there is a DNA change which could cause a cell to become cancerous.
