We are going to discuss one of the success story of Harshamithra Cancer and Multi-Speciality Hospital. This story involves a cancer patient who was treated at our hospital, has been cured, and is now doing well. Her husband, an elderly man, had a fall which resulted in a broken leg bone. He was unable to walk and sought help from an orthopaedic hospital. The orthopaedic doctor
suggested surgery but noted that he had a severe condition called stenosis in his heart’s main artery, which made the surgery risky. There was a chance of a sudden heart attack during the operation, and thus, no orthopaedic doctor was willing to perform the surgery.
Uncertain of what to do, he came to our hospital with his wife. When they arrived, we informed him that Harshamithra is now a multi-speciality hospital, not just a cancer hospital. He inquired if our orthopaedic doctor could see him. We arranged for our orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Harishkumar, to see him. Dr. Harishkumar examined him and noted the high risk. Therefore, we sought the opinion of our cardiologist, Dr. Ashok, who also confirmed the high risk and warned of a possible heart attack during surgery.
One of Harshamitra’s special features is our dedicated team of experienced doctors who handle challenging and critical cases. We consulted our anaesthetists, Dr. Gunasekaran and Dr. Sai Viswanathan, who were confident that we could proceed with the case. We formed a special team that included two anaesthetists, a cardiologist, and an orthopaedic surgeon, along with a backup ICU. Despite the short duration and high risk, the team successfully completed the surgery. Our orthopaedic surgeon performed the operation, and our anaesthetists carefully administered anaesthesia to prevent a heart attack by maintaining stable blood pressure.
