Trichy, Sept. 30:
As part of Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Harshamitra Cancer & Multi-Speciality Hospital, Nagamangalam, will inaugurate its special initiative, “3 Grams @ 999”, tomorrow (October 1) at 10:30 a.m.
The inaugural event will feature Rtn. S. Nithya (President, RCT Butterflies) as the Chief Guest and Rtn. M. Revathi as the Guest of Honour.
Objective of the Program
Under this scheme, women can undergo three essential breast cancer screening tests — Mammogram, Thermogram, and Ultrasonogram — for just ₹999/-. Normally valued at ₹6500, these tests are being offered at a nominal cost during October to promote awareness and encourage early detection.
Alarming Statistics
- Over 200,000 new breast cancer cases are detected in India every year.
- In Tamil Nadu alone, more than 11,000 new cases were recorded in 2021.
- A majority of women are diagnosed at Stage III or IV, making treatment more challenging.
- In India, around 40 out of every 100 women diagnosed with breast cancer lose their lives.
- The country’s five-year survival rate stands at just 66%, lower than many developed nations.
Doctors’ Message
Medical experts emphasize:
“Early detection saves lives. Women should practice regular self-examination and undergo timely screening tests without delay.”
Through this initiative, Harshamitra Hospital aims to spread awareness and empower women to take charge of their health, building a healthier society.
