We’re happy to share that Bharathidasan University, Department of Biomedical Science, has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Harshamitra Oncology Private Limited, Trichy, to work together on cancer awareness and prevention.
This special event took place on 28th July 2025 at 11:30 am in the AC Auditorium of our university.
Launch of BDU Pink Cross Society
As part of this program, a new student group was launched – the BDU Pink Cross Society. This team will be involved in:
• Creating awareness about cancer
• Teaching others how to prevent it
• Sharing useful health tips with students and the public
This group will help more people understand the importance of early detection and regular check-ups.

Special Talk by Dr. G. Govindaraj Vardhanan
The event also had a special guest speaker – Dr. G. Govindaraj Vardhanan, Surgical Oncologist and Managing Director of Harshamitra Oncology Hospital, Trichy. He gave a talk on the topic “Cancer Awareness for the Next Generation.”Dr. Vardhanan has treated many cancer patients and also studied psychology, which helps him understand people better. His talk was simple, clear, and inspiring – encouraging young people to stay alert, take care of their health, and help others do the same.

Why This Matters
This partnership is an important step. It brings together:
• Medical experts
• University students
• Teachers and the community
Together, we can make sure that more people know about cancer, spot it early, and reduce fear around the disease.
A Message for All Students
Whether you’re from a science background or not, your voice matters. Being part of this society or even just attending these sessions can help you guide someone in your family or community. Small steps like this can save lives.
We thank everyone who joined us for this event and invite more students to be part of the awareness drive. Let’s learn, share, and stand together in the fight against cancer.
