The Inner Wheel Club of Tiruchi Rockfort, in association with the Rotary Club of Trichy Diamond City Elite, conducted a Breast Cancer Awareness Program on August 13, 2025, at Holy Cross Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Somarasampettai, Trichy.
The special guest, Dr. P. Sasipriya Govindaraj, Consultant Radiation Oncologist & Executive Director of Harshamitra Super Speciality Cancer Centre and Research Institute, addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on breast cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.
“Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. However, when detected early, it is completely curable. Every woman should undergo a mammogram once a year. It is also essential to practice regular self-examination at home,” she advised.
Dr. Sasipriya also stressed the importance of consulting a doctor immediately if symptoms such as lumps, pain, or changes in skin texture are noticed, and she explained the available treatment methods in detail.
Rotary Club of Trichy Diamond City Elite President Rtn. M. Joseph Raj and Inner Wheel Club of Tiruchi Rockfort President Mrs. J. Margaret emphasized that such awareness programs are vital for women and announced that similar events will be organized in more locations in the future.
The event was attended by office bearers and members of both clubs, teachers, and students of the school.
