Harshamitra and Bharathidasan University Join Hands for Breast Cancer Awareness – A Powerful Initiative for Pink October

On October 9, 2025, Harshamitra Cancer & Multi-Speciality Hospital, in collaboration with Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, organized a Mega Breast Cancer Awareness Program and Exhibition at the university campus. This initiative was part of the ongoing Pink October awareness campaign, aimed at promoting early detection, education, and prevention of breast cancer among young women and future healthcare leaders.
The event was inaugurated by the Registrar of Bharathidasan University, who officially opened the exhibition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The awareness exhibition featured 11 creative chart presentations prepared by students representing Harshamitra, each explaining key aspects of breast cancer – its causes, risk factors, symptoms, prevention methods, and the importance of regular screening.
A life-sized breast model was also displayed at the exhibition to provide a practical learning experience on anatomy and early symptom identification. The interactive setup drew the attention of hundreds of students and faculty members who actively participated in discussions and demonstrations.
The program began with an inspiring keynote address by Dr. Govindaraj, highlighting the significance of early detection and community education in reducing breast cancer mortality. Following that, Dr. P. Sasipriya, Executive Director and Senior Radiation Oncologist of Harshamitra Hospital, delivered a detailed awareness talk, encouraging students to spread awareness within their families and communities.
Over 300 students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the awareness activities and exhibition. They asked thought-provoking questions about screening procedures, lifestyle factors, and current treatment advancements — all of which were effectively addressed by Harshamitra’s team and the university’s Rose Garden students, who actively coordinated the session.
Each chart work was carefully evaluated by a panel of university judges, and participants were awarded certificates and mementos for their valuable contributions. To promote continued learning, the breast model displayed during the event was handed over to the university’s research department for academic study and awareness purposes.
The event not only created awareness about breast cancer but also strengthened the collaboration between healthcare professionals and educational institutions in empowering young minds to be proactive about health and prevention.
Harshamitra Hospital remains committed to continuing such outreach initiatives, ensuring that awareness reaches every corner of society — because early detection saves lives.
Together, we stand for awareness, prevention, and hope.
