As cancer continues to rise across India due to lifestyle changes, pollution, and delayed diagnosis, Harshamitra Super Speciality Cancer Centre in Trichy has been leading the way in spreading awareness and promoting preventive healthcare.
In continuation of its outreach programs, Harshamitra Hospital organized a Cancer Awareness Program on October 7, 2025, at SFS Public Anglo Indian School, Kunnathur, Trichy.
The session witnessed an energetic participation of school students who listened, interacted, and learned about the importance of early cancer detection and prevention.
Focus on Education and Awareness
Oncologists and health educators from Harshamitra Hospital addressed the students, explaining in simple terms:
- What causes cancer and how it develops
- The importance of early detection and timely screening
- The health risks of smoking, alcohol, air pollution, and kitchen smoke
- The benefits of balanced diet and regular physical activity
- How positive lifestyle choices can drastically reduce cancer risk
The students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions such as:
“Can cancer be completely cured?”
“What are the symptoms we should never ignore?”
Doctors answered each question with patience, highlighting that early diagnosis saves lives and that awareness is the first step toward prevention.

Spreading Hope for a Cancer-Free Future
The interactive session encouraged students to adopt healthy daily habits — nutritious food, regular exercise, and avoidance of tobacco and alcohol.
Teachers and administrators from SFS Public School appreciated the hospital’s effort, calling it “a much-needed program that plants the seed of awareness in the next generation.”
The program concluded with a commitment from both the hospital and the school to continue community health education throughout the year.
