What is Pink Cross Society?

It is a community consisting of students and youth uniting together to work for the welfare of the cancer patients and for prevention of cancer in the society.

Who launched Pink Cross Society?

Rose garden, a charitable trust for cancer patients is functioning at Trichy from 2008. It is supported by Harshamitra Cancer Hospital, Trichy.

The hospital was founded by Dr. G. Govindarajvardhanan, a surgical oncologist who lost his father to Larynx cancer and then got inspired to pursue the field of oncology. Similarly, his wife also pursued radiation oncology. Both of them were gold medalists in the field. Together they formed the hospital named Harshamitra and also founded a trust in the name of Dhanabackiyam Ganesan Pon Memorial Trust, nick named as Rose Garden. Rose Garden has been involved in various cancer awareness activities, cancer screening camps and providing free treatment to the poor cancer patients.

As a step towards educating the students and youth community and uniting them as warriors against cancer, the trust founded by the two doctors have now launched this PINK CROSS SOCIETY.

What are the objectives of this Society?

  1. To unite the students and youth who are willing to serve the community and motivate them to take part in various welfare activities for the cancer patients.
  2. To educate them about cancer.
  3. To involve the students in various cancer awareness events.
  4. To provide research opportunities to the students in the field of oncology.
  5. To create a sense of empathy among the students and the youth towards cancer patients.

 Who can become members of this Society?

School or college students and youth can register to become members of the society. After approval by the coordinators, they will be given a digital membership card.

How the students can contribute towards the welfare of cancer patients and for prevention of cancer in the society?

  1. To visit the cancer patients in the hospitals and provide them moral support.
  2. To take part in cancer awareness events organised by the pink cross society.
  3. To create awareness banners and posters and circulate in social medias.
  4. To raise funds for the treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients.
  5. To conduct cancer awareness or cancer screening programs in villages.
  6. To celebrate their birthdays and other celebrations in cancer hospitals along with cancer patients.
  7. To abstain from tobacco and alcohol and be role models.
  8. To promote cancer prevention measures among the students in their institutions.
  9. To conduct or participate in cancer related competitions.
  10. Any other related works.
