On October 6, 2024, a free breast cancer awareness event and cancer medical camp were organized by Harshamitra Hospital in collaboration with Nature Trust at the Perarignar Anna Community Hall in Kulithalai. More than 100 members of the public participated in this awareness program, and over 50 people were tested at the camp.

This event was held in recognition of Pink October, which is globally observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was coordinated by Sathya Priya, a breast cancer survivor who was successfully treated at Harshamitra Hospital. Sathya Priya voluntarily took the initiative to organize this event with the goal of raising awareness about breast cancer, especially among women.

Harshamitra Hospital and the Rose Garden Foundation expressed their gratitude to Sathya Priya for her efforts in organizing the event to educate the public about breast cancer. The arrangements for the camp were made by Mrs. Abirami, the founder of Nature Trust, along with the medical team from Harshamitra Hospital.

The event was part of a larger awareness campaign surrounding breast cancer, which is the focus of the Pink October initiative. This campaign takes place globally throughout the month of October to promote awareness, encourage early detection, and reduce the stigma associated with breast cancer.

  1. Breast Cancer Awareness and Medical Camp:

The camp’s primary goal was to educate the public, especially women, about breast cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection. Over 100 people participated, highlighting the community’s active involvement. Among them, 50 individuals underwent medical tests to check for signs of cancer. This kind of proactive testing is crucial for early diagnosis, which significantly improves treatment outcomes.

  1. Sathya Priya’s Role:

A key highlight of the event is that it was organized by Sathya Priya, a breast cancer survivor who had been successfully treated at Harshamitra Hospital. Her initiative to organize this camp underlines the personal commitment of survivors in contributing back to society, especially by raising awareness about life-threatening diseases like cancer. Her actions show the power of survivor-led initiatives in promoting health and wellness.

  1. Collaboration with Nature Trust:

The event was conducted in partnership with Nature Trust, a community-based organization led by Mrs. Abirami. This collaboration demonstrates how medical institutions and non-profit organizations can come together to reach more people and provide necessary health services. The combination of medical expertise from Harshamitra Hospital and the social outreach efforts of Nature Trust ensured that the camp was both educational and effective.
