As part of the Pink October awareness campaign, a remarkable Cervical and Breast Cancer Awareness Program was held at Jenny Plaza, Tiruchirappalli, on October 8, 2025. The event was organized under the Rotary District 2025–26 “DREAM” initiative by The Rotary Club of Tiruchirappalli Butterflies, in collaboration with several other Rotary Clubs including RCT DC Elite, RCT Winners, RCT DC Queens, RCT Eye Donation, RCT Rivertown, RC Tiruchirappalli, RCT Thendral, RCT Next Gen, and RCT Royal.
The event aimed to spread vital awareness about women’s health, cervical cancer prevention, and early detection of breast cancer among the general public. It drew participation from Rotarians, community leaders, women’s groups, and students, reflecting a strong commitment to public health education.
The highlight of the program was the insightful address by Dr. P. Sasipriya Govindaraj, Senior Radiation Oncologist and Executive Director of Harshamitra Cancer & Multi-Speciality Hospital, Tiruchirappalli. Dr. Sasipriya emphasized the importance of early screening for both cervical and breast cancer and spoke about how timely vaccination and self-examination can save countless lives.
She highlighted that Harshamitra Hospital has been continuously involved in awareness drives, medical camps, and preventive screening initiatives since 2012, reaching thousands of women through health talks, exhibitions, and public interactions. Her talk inspired many attendees to take proactive steps toward preventive healthcare.
During the event, expert volunteers shared educational material, demonstrated screening techniques, and explained the role of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer. The session concluded with an interactive discussion where women and students asked practical questions about prevention, lifestyle habits, and accessible healthcare options.
The combined efforts of the Rotary Clubs and Harshamitra Hospital turned this awareness program into a significant community success — creating a ripple of health awareness across Tiruchirappalli during Pink October 2025.
